I was a single dad before so I can relate to the main character in someways. I really felt touched in someways because I know the feeling of being a single dad being scared to commit to someone after having a previous bad relationship. I think what actually made me get emotional in a way was when the main character tell his story of his previous relationship to his new girlfriend and how the mother of his child ran away. I have felt this feeling as well before and it touched me because it's a feeling that will never go away. What's funny about this is that I met my wife in a library which is what made me happy about this because my wife worked part time at the university we went to as a cashier. I'm not really into love story shows but when I saw my wife watching it reminded me of us in a way. I really enjoyed the show it was great 31, 2019Contribute to this pageSuggest an edit or add missing contentWhat is the Brazilian Portuguese language plot outline for One Spring Night 2019?AnswerEdit pageAdd episodeMore to exploreRecently viewedYou have no recently viewed pages4: One Spring Night Says: May 14th, 2019 at 1:11 pm. 52 June 7, 2019June 7, 2019 One Spring Night Episodes 9-10 by abirdword So many feelings. Our young pharmacist does his best to bury his deep inside, while our librarian starts to realize that holding them back is what has been making her miserable all along. But holding back or moving forward, everyone is consumed with the ache of distance as they try to sort everything out. Except for maybe our pharmacistās rival Ki-seok. That guy has plenty of angst to contend with as well in this hour, but his is more about avoidance than any realizations. EPISODE 9 Sitting in the car, Ji-ho promises Jung-in that he wonāt let her see his feelings, just as long as he can still see her. Jung-in scoffs that the idea of him watching her secretly is ridiculous, but as she keeps talking, it sounds like her real issue is that she wants to know that Ji-ho is admiring her. Not just that, but Jung-in asks if she should get Ji-hoās permission so that she can watch him in secret as well, basically admitting that sheās drawn to him just as much as he is to her. She calls him selfish, and Ji-ho asks if he should allow himself to be truly selfish. But Jung-in squashes the rising emotions with a firm āno.ā Ji-ho rolls out of the car and leans against his car, taking a breath of the night air to calm down. Meanwhile, Ki-seok is still out with the guys and gives Jung-in a call. Sheās his number one on speed dial, but she doesnāt pick up his call. Ji-ho drives Jung-in home, and as they arrive, Ji-ho says that they should end things there. Jung-in presses him on it, how sheās not going to buy his lie that this is all his fault for falling for her fleeting feelings too fast. At their home, Jung-inās parents argue as they get into bed. Dad insists that putting pressure on Jung-in is the right thing to do, while Mom stands firm in her defence of her daughter and her right to make her own decisions. The next day, Jung-in catches her Mom on the way out of her calligraphy class. While Mom defended her the night before, she still plays cold towards her daughter until Jung-in apologizes for hiding Jae-inās return. As they sit together in an empty auditorium in the school building, Mom shares that Seo-in also got upset during a recent visit. Jung-in quickly asks what Seo-in had to say, but diverts her eyes when Mom asks if she knows something. Jung-in asks her mother what kind of guy she should marry. Mom asks about Ki-seok, and says that itās not easy to sever such a bond with someone youāve known for so long. Even so, Momās words are that you canāt control what the heart wants. As the week continues, Jung-in and her colleagues continue to prep for the upcoming book event and are working on a theme. Jung-in suddenly blurts, āUnexpectedly You,ā and presents it as a way to encourage new participants who may have shied away from the event previously. Jung-in starts to back down on the concept, but Young-joo and Ha-rin love the idea. While Jung-in is having creative breakthroughs at work, others are having less success. Ji-ho seems more and more consumed by his frustration while he works, and Seo-in turns down the offer for a new show. Her boss canāt understand why she wouldnāt go for it, and Seo-in manages to stay firmly silent as he badgers her with questions. Meanwhile, Shi-hoon has found his new, larger dental office. Heās excited that all the equipment in the office will come with it, and brushes aside the real estate agentās efforts to warn him that because this is a new building, the rent will be very costly. Shi-hoon just wants to know when he can sign the lease. After work, Ki-seok and Jung-in go out for dinner together, and Jung-in asks if Ki-seok has seen Shi-hoon recently. When Ki-seok mentions the loan, Jung-in tells him to stay away from Shi-hoon and find an excuse to deny the loan. She wonāt elaborate on why though, so of course Ki-seok mentions that Shi-hoon said that he would support their marriage. It is definitely the wrong thing to say, and Jung-in gives him a hard stare. Ki-seok presses, and Jung-in asks what his parents think about them getting married. Ki-seok asks if sheāll accept his proposal if he gets that all straightened out, and Jung-in asks if he just doesnāt want to lose this argument. Ki-seok retorts that itās not like Jung-in lets him win all the time anyway. Jung-in says that she dreads spending time with Ki-seok lately, because it always turns into a fight, and she blames herself for it. Jung-in waits outside as Ki-seok pays the bill, and Ki-seok walks past her without a glance as he tells her to get in the car. Now Jung-in is angry, and she lets all of the pent-up anger out. She yells at Ki-seok about how she knows his parents donāt approve of her, and how frustrated she is that while Ki-seok knows this, he just ignores how that might make her feel. Jung-in says sheās never pestered him to get married, and she hoped only that he would understand her and her feelings. Ki-seok tries to comfort Jung-in, but sheās too riled up and walks home by herself. And now itās time for a misery montage! The night hasnāt ended well for anyone really, and we see Jung-in curled on her couch, Ki-seok in his car still outside the restaurant, and Ji-ho in his apartment wrestling with his thoughts. At the pharmacy the next morning, Ji-ho is thrown by a woman asking for hangover medicine. All he can think about is his first encounter with Jung-in, and his fellow pharmacist has to take over while he heads to the back room the gather himself. His older coworker Pharmacist Wang arrives with a bag of clothes for Eun-woo. She asks about the girl Ji-ho is obviously pining over, and he tells her that he ended it, because āhe was too good for her.ā Pharmacist Wang gives him a playful slap to the shoulder and sends him back out front. At the school, Jung-inās dad is busy slashing the budget for books and other āunnecessaryā things when Chairman Kwon turns up. The chairman inquires after Jung-inās library job, and then asks what Jung-in is good at. Dad vaguely boasts that Jung-in is good at a lot of things, but the chairman seems pretty unconvinced. They take this conversation to lunch, but first Chairman Kwon fields a call from his son, telling Ki-seok to hurry up and get married. Once the chairman ends the call, Dad continues to praise Jung-in and says that sheās very loyal and would never betray anyone. The chairman warns Dad not to trust her just because sheās his daughter. Meanwhile, Jung-in and Young-joo with coffee in the library stacks, and Jung-in quietly announces, āIām going to break up with Ki-seok.ā Young-joo is stunned that Jung-inās feelings for the pharmacist are that strong. Young-joo says that Jung-in wonāt be able to break up with Ki-seok, because Ki-seok wonāt let her. She says that maybe if there wasnāt another guy, it would just fade away. But with a third-party, it will become about winning and pride. Jung-in says that while she does like Ji-ho, sheās not sure if she has a chance with him either. Young-joo asks her to explain, and Jung-in promises to do so later, with a sigh. EPISODE 10 Ji-hoās parents are busy at their business, though Mom may be more preoccupied with setting Ji-ho up with their single mom neighbor than she is with laundry. The bus arrives with Eun-woo, who asks about when his dad will be around so they can go to the library again. Mom presses about whatās at the library, and Eun-woo admits that thereās a teacher there who knows his dad. Ji-ho is out for chicken and beer with Hyun-soo, the conversation about dating and work. Hyun-soo brings up how attractive Ki-seokās girlfriend is again, and then says that he heard theyāre getting married, but he doesnāt think Ki-seok actually wants to. Ji-hoās hackles raise as he gets defensive. āWhy are they still together then? And what does that make her?ā Hyun-soo doesnāt get why Ji-ho is so interested, and segues on to mention that he canāt get ahold of their friend Young-jae. Ji-ho tells Hyun-soo to leave the guy alone while he studies. Cut to Young-jae, who is indeed busy studying eating dinner with Jae-in. He asks Jae-in what she plans to do when she eventually has to find a job, and Jae-in lists her many capabilities, including French, English, and piano. On the tv overhead, Seo-inās news program comes on, and Jae-in asks Young-jae what he thinks of the newscaster. Sheās immediately sulky when Young-jae says that Seo-in is his ideal type, sophisticated and elegant. Jae-in huffs over to get the bill. Outside, Young-jae finally checks his phone and sees all the messages from Hyun-soo. Jae-in wants to join him and Ji-ho for drinks, but Young-jae is worried theyāll speculate that theyāre more than just friends. Jae-in swears that sheāll profess that sheās there to see Ji-ho, but Young-jae says heās pretty sure that the guy has fallen hard for someone else already. So Jae-in goes home instead, and promptly reports this news of a mysterious love interest to Jung-in, who is picking at her late dinner. Jung-in slips up and asks Jae-in why sheās so interested in āJi-ho shi,ā and Jae-in notes the unexpected familiarity. Jung-in diverts the conversation by warning Jae-in to behave, and Jae-in growls over her shoulder that she misses her fearless sister. Ki-seok meets with Shi-hoon to relay the news that his loan has been denied. Shi-hoon is all smiles, telling Ki-seok that itās no big deal, he can just afford to do it in cash. Ha. But then Shi-hoon starts back with his intentions to support Ki-seok and Jung-inās marriage, and itās clear that the latest confrontation with Jung-in is on his mind as Ki-seok pulls the paperwork back and offers to take another look at it. After Ki-seok walks Shi-hoon to his car, he receives a text from Jung-in. āWe need to talk,ā it reads, and Ki-seok curses to himself as he walks back inside. Yeah, need-to-talk texts are never good. Seo-in arrives at Shi-hoonās dental office at closing time. The receptionists are on their way out, and Seo-in asks one of the girls to pick up some stomach medicine for her. Once theyāre gone, Seo-in heads back to Shi-hoonās office and throws his mail on the desk in front of him. She tells him to hurry up and take care of his loan, and demands his legal seal so that she can sell the apartment. Shi-hoon rises to strike Seo-in, and she runs for the doors. He pursues her and grabs her, but theyāre interrupted by the receptionist returning with Seo-inās medicine, thank goodness. The workday is ending for Jung-in as well. She checks her texts and sees that Ki-seok is avoiding the conversation that she wants to have. Young-joo wishes her friend luck. But Jung-in is tired of waiting, and so she calls Ji-ho on her way out. But Ji-ho is busy with laundry at home and doesnāt pick up. Jung-in heads to his building, seeing the lights on in his apartment. She calls again, but no answer. And so she climbs the stairs of the building, the overhead fluorescents lighting the way as she climbs to Ji-hoās front door. Ji-ho comes out to talk to her in the hallway. He asks if something happened, and she asks him if sheās the only one having a hard time with this. She asks if sheās annoying, and Ji-ho gruffly says, āYes, you are.ā He goes on, saying that they should just be strangers to one another, and Jung-in reaches out and silences him, her hand pressed against his mouth. She starts to cry as she pulls her hand away, and Ji-ho shifts uncomfortably before suggesting that they go get something to eat. They head to a nearby restaurant and are seated even though itās closing time. Ji-ho recommends whatās good, but Jung-in notes that heās not eating. Ji-ho admits that heās actually already had dinner. Jung-in continues to badger him, asking if sheās a loser and a burden to him, and Ji-ho agrees, though itās clear thereās no heart in it, only restraint. Jung-in asks if the coffee shop they went to previously is still open, and Ji-ho asks, āArenāt you going home?ā Jung-in gives him a sideways look as she asks if she can stay at his place if the answer is no. They sit across from one another at the coffee shop now. Jung-in persists with her line of questions and Ji-ho holds his front, asking why Jung-in canāt understand that this entire evening is torture for him. Jung-in asks why she should care. But it seems more flirty than anything else, and when Ji-ho calls her mean, she says that heāll be seeing it a lot more now that her true troublemaker self has resurfaced. Ji-ho asks her to please help him be strong and not selfish, and when Jung-in asks why, he answers that sheās too good for him, which gives her pause. In the end, Ji-ho drives Jung-in home. As she walks away, Ji-ho canāt help but watch her. Then he folds over on his car, bracing himself against his emotions. Just at that moment though, Jae-in and Young-jae arrive and ask what Ji-ho is doing in the neighborhood. Jung-in is so distracted inside, she misses the elevator and has to call for it again. While she waits, Jae-in catches up and mentions that she saw Ji-ho outside and wanted to invite Young-jae in, but she knew her sister wouldnāt like it. Jung-in says that sheās not so uptight, and so Jae-in skips off to invite both men up for a drink. This sends Jung-in racing to her apartment, desperate to clean and hide away things before everyone gets upstairs. She picks up the framed picture of her and Ki-seok, and then flips it over, ha. Jae-in leads the guys upstairs, but isnāt impressed with Jung-inās offer of tea. It seems that Jung-in polished off all the booze in the house, so Jae-in grabs Young-jae and they head out to get more alcohol, leaving Ji-ho and Jung-in alone. The two canāt help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, but their smiles fade slowly as Jung-inās phone begins to buzz on the table. Itās clear that it must be Ki-seok, and Jung-in answers it, her eyes not straying from Ji-ho. Ki-seok asks what she wanted to talk about. āLetās break up,ā she says, and Ji-ho looks at her, his eyes wide. Ć COMMENTS The buzz of a vibrating phone ringing phone has never been so ominous. I was filled simultaneously with so much hope and dread, and I was so pleased to see that rather than letting it kill the revived mood, Jung-in moved forward and stuck to her plan. Weāve been hearing so much about the fearless Jung-in who doesnāt back down from what she wants. And I think weāve seen the first real move towards that true self right here. Or perhaps her fight with Ki-seok outside the restaurant was the first hint that a big change was brewing for Jung-in. Her go-to so far has been the meaningful stare, so I was startled to see her yelling so emotionally in the street. I think Ki-seok was too, because he moved immediately to comfort rather than to fight back. But was Jung-inās explosion at Ki-seok rooted in real feelings, or is this an excuse, a front to cover up the other things? Iāve kind of believed that Jung-in didnāt really care about what Ki-seokās parents thought of her, but perhaps that is part of the mask sheās been wearing all this time, and weāre seeing feelings that have been festering for years. Itās interesting because honestly, Iām not sure that I see Chairman Kwon as opposed to Jung-in as a daughter-in-law. He doesnāt necessarily see it as advantageous and would probably be a terribly condescending in-law, but really I just get the impression that the guy just wants his son married. It makes you wonder what Jung-in found appealing in a boring life for so long. Her sister calls her fearless, her mother tells stories of hunger strikes. Itās seeming more and more like Jung-inās āI donāt like adventureā line is a lie. So how did she get here? Did it happen naturally, some sort of life entrophy that got her here? Did something happen when she and Ki-seok met, that made her want to settle into dullness? I canāt help but think about Ki-seokās dadās comment, about how Ki-seok quit music when he met Jung-in. It feels like this relationship has sucked the creativity right out of the pair, possibly from the very start. Because Jung-in isnāt just experiencing changes in her romantic feelings. Sheās also experiencing a creative revival at work, and her friends are noticing the positive changes in her as well. Itās seeming more and more like these two, individually, are not bland or boring at all. But their union has somehow fostered this dull, sepia existence for them. And oh Ki-seok, actively avoiding what he knows is coming. I think he was hoping that Jung-in would just be too tired to break up with him if he called late enough in the evening. I appreciate though that while Ki-seok wonāt admit himself that he doesnāt want to get married, at least his friends recognize it. They only see the surface of things, but Ki-seok canāt even get himself to that point quite yet. On to other disintegrating relationships, Iām so proud of Seo-in in this episode. Seo-in wore battle armor to her confrontation with Shi-hoon, and I loved it. Sheās ususally dressed in soft whites and pastels for work, so I screamed in joy when I saw her in that dark power suit at the dental office. And while it didnāt stop Shi-hoonās bad behavior, because honestly nothing short of prison is going to stop this jerk, it still gave Seo-in the courage to face him anyway. Iām also glad that Seo-in stood up for herself and didnāt take the new job assignment. Society may see this as weakness, as letting things get in her way. But I see it as her standing up to the worldās expectations, and recognizing that success and happiness arenāt just measured in workplace ascension. Itās not that Seo-in doesnāt want this show. Itās that she knows that she has too much on her plate already, and she knows that she needs to put her safety first. And then thereās Jae-in. Iāve been thinking about Jae-in for a while, probably because I know so many Jae-inās. Theyāre talented and friendly with so many people, and that puts people at ease. But Iām worried that Jae-in might have a hard time recognizing the value she has if she isnāt in a relationship. She had a long list of talents to tell Young-jae about, but then she immediately focused the conversation on her desirability, and felt like she was seen as less than her upstanding sister. It feels like as much as she is a free spirit, she might need the attention from Young-jae too much. Weāll have to wait and see how far we take Jae-inās story, but I think the happiest ending might be for Jae-in to find a fulfilling job and not be so concerned with the men in her life and their validation. The beginning of the episode starts with Ji-hoās promise that he wonāt let Jung-in see him watching her, and he ultimately holds that promise up. He stays strong against all of her efforts⦠right up until she turns her back on him to go inside her building. And then itās here, where Ji-hoās face softens as he watches her, letting out just a little bit of his emotions. He canāt help indulge in them, but heās determined not to interfere with Jung-inās life. Thankfully, itās officially too late for that. Jung-in has made her first bold move, and I can only assume that Ki-seokās response will be to drive over to Jung-inās apartment as quickly as he can so that they can talk in person. Jae-in and Young-jae will be totally oblivious and eagerly welcome Ki-seok in and then⦠I can only imagine. I really have no clue whether weāll introduce Ji-ho as a known rival so soon, or if weāll let it build slowly. But eventually weāre going to get a really intense game of basketball, right? recaps discussion news cast 71 June 9, 2019June 9, 2019 One Spring Night Episodes 11-12 by TeriYaki Our pharmacist is suddenly of great interest to those closest to the conflicted librarian, which makes is more difficult for her to break free from her long-time boyfriend. Even when her boyfriend suspects that there could be someone else, the thought that Jung-in could open her heart to a single dad is unfathomable. Though denial may stall a break up, but it canāt stop a growing bond between Jung-in and our pharmacist. EPISODE 11 RECAP Jung-in locks her gaze on Ji-hoās face while she tells Ki-seok that she wants to break up. Ji-ho steps outside so Jung-in can have some privacy while she tries to convince Ki-seok that sheās serious. Ki-seok asks for Jung-inās reason but she tells him, āā¦letās break up without any reason,ā and with nothing more to say, she hangs up. Jung-in lets Ji-ho back into her apartment and when he offers to leave as soon as Young-jae returns, Jung-in assures him itās not necessary because, āThis has nothing to do with you.ā Ji-ho isnāt sure how he feels now that the woman that heās attracted to just broke up with her boyfriend. Jung-in tells Ji-ho that she isnāt sure when her confusion began, only that she avoided dealing with it. The tension eases when Ji-ho jokes that he helped out by serving as Jung-inās punching bag. Jae-in and Young-jae return and as they wait for the elevator, Young-jae worries that Jung-in might not want company. Jae-in reminds him that her sister is the straightforward type but Young-jae doesnāt see her that way. Annoyed that Young-jae has paid that much attention to Jung-in, Jae-in threatens to go after Ji-ho until she remembers that he likes someone. Young-jae warns Jae-in not to mention it but once theyāre upstairs and Jae-in has had a few drinks, she confronts Ji-ho, āI heard youāre head over heels for someone.ā Jae-in wants to know what Ji-ho finds attractive about his mystery woman and laughs when he answers, āSheās such a fool.ā When Ji-ho gets a call from Eun-woo, Jung-in directs him to her room and cringes when she sees the clothes that she tossed onto the floor. Jung-in shoves the clothes into her closet just as Eun-woo asks Ji-ho why he isnāt talking. Ji-ho explains that heās at a friendās house and the boy pries, āAre you at the teacherās place?ā Even though Ji-ho denies it, Eun-woo asks to speak to the teacher, which Jung-in overhears. Jung-in takes the phone and smiles at Ji-ho while she talks with his son. When Jung-in sweetly ends the call, āIāll see you in your dream,ā Ji-ho is overcome with emotion. Later, the impromptu party is interrupted by the doorbell. The sisters are surprised to see that Ki-seok is the visitor and Jung-in instructs Jae-in not to come out. When Jung-in walks out, Ki-seok can tell that sheās been drinking. Inside, Jae-in tries to keep the party going but Ji-ho keeps glancing at the door. Ki-seok argues that Jung-in needs to observe good manners but she reasons, āWe have no respect for each other, so who cares how our relationship ends?ā Angry, Ki-seok insists on working things out but Jung-in warns him to lower his voice. Ki-seok wants to go somewhere else to talk but Jung-in refuses and when she tries to go back inside, he grabs her. When everyone inside hears Jung-in protest, āDonāt do that,ā Jae-in gets up to investigate. Young-jae whispers that itās time to go but Ji-ho points out that would only make things more awkward. One of Ji-hoās shoes gets kicked outside when Jae-in opens the door and explains, āWe have guestsā¦ā When Jae-in invites Ki-seok to join them, Jung-in sends her sister back inside, alone. Ki-seok reminds Jung-in that he gave her time to think and asks for the same consideration. Once Jung-in returns, Ji-ho tells Young-jae, āLetās go.ā Jae-in is upset that Ki-seok ruined the fun but Young-jae insists, āWe were going to leave anyway.ā On his way out, Ji-ho giveās Jung-inās shoulder a reassuring pat. As they wait for the kindergarten bus the next morning, Ji-hoās mother asks Eun-woo about his phone call with his father. The boy explains that he talked with the teacher, āShe told me that I need to go to bed early to grow taller.ā Mom crouches down to double check that Eun-woo is talking about a woman and the boy reminds her that all teachers are women. Cute. Once the bus leaves with Eun-woo, Mom sits in the dry cleanerās shop to think. When Dad joins her, Mom shares her suspicion, āI think Ji-ho is seeing someone,ā and sheās already guessed that the woman works at the library that Ji-ho and Eun-woo visited. Chairman Kwon arrives at the school just as Jung-inās after, Principal Lee, returns from a meeting. Principal Lee promises to write up a report for the chairmanās benefit but Chairman Kwon suggests taking a walk together first. Chairman Kwon offers Principal Lee a position at his foundation after his retirement. Principal Lee thanks the chairman, who uses the opportunity to counsel, āAnd about our kidsā¦Marriage is a major life event, so we should really think it throughā¦Letās not make a rash decision.ā Ha-rin returns to her desk, puzzled about some new dinosaur childrenās books that have gone missing. Ha-rin and Young-joo are surprised when Jung-in announces that she took them ā for her nephew. Young-joo blinks and then points out that Jung-in has no nephews. Jung-in corrects herself, āItās my cousinās son,ā and after she makes a hasty exit, her friends agree that Jung-in looked flustered. As the pharmacy team prepares to close, Ye-seul offers to set up Ji-ho on a blind date but Pharmacist Wang warns her not to bother. When Ji-ho and Pharmacist Wang go out for coffee, she confesses that she misses the old Ji-ho, āYou were fun, smart, and competitive.ā Pharmacist Wang knows how much Eun-woo changed Ji-hoās life, but sheās noticed a change in Ji-ho recently. Ji-ho admits, āThereās someone I like,ā and adds that because of the womanās situation and a series of obstacles, he isnāt sure if he should pursue her. When asked if heād regret letting her go, Ji-ho shakes his head, āI can endure it all, sheāll obviously have a hard time because of me.ā Pharmacist Wang argues, āYouāve suffered enoughā¦Can I see that high-spirited version of you again?ā Shi-hoon stands over a shaken Seo-in in their trashed apartment and rips up a document, āLet me say this one more time. You canāt get out of this marriage.ā On his way out, Shi-hoon mentions that he invited Jung-in and Ki-seok over and tells Seo-in to arrange the date. Later, when Seo-in is about to go on the air, Shi-hoon texts a reminder to schedule the get-together. Seo-inās co-anchor mentions rumors of a scandal and Seo-in vows not to let him down. Seo-in submits her resignation and when her boss wonders what jerk is spreading rumors about her, she says nothing. He offers Seo-in the support of the company but she points out its inability to stop the rumors. Seo-inās boss worries that she has plans to join another network but Seo-in claims that she wants to study. Her boss mentions the companyās training program but Seo-in insists on keeping her plans private. Jung-inās mother stops at the library to talk to Jung-in. When Mom informs Jung-in that Chairman Kwon offered her father a job at the foundation, Jung-in realizes that her parents expect the offer to influence her decision about Ki-seok. Jung-in reminds her mother that this is what happened with Seo-in, which is why Jung-in and her father canāt get along. EPISODE 12 RECAP Ji-ho meets Hyun-soo outside of the bank and when they see Ki-seok, Hyun-soo invites him to join them for a drink. Ki-seok canāt make it since heās on his way to see his girlfriend but after seeing Ji-hoās shoes, he changes his mind. Jae-in and Young-jae are out together again and Jae-in mentions that Ji-ho and Jung-in behaved suspiciously the night that they were all together. Young-jae comes to their defense ā Ji-ho just went into Jung-inās room to talk on the phone and Jung-in went in to tidy up. Jae-in persists, āThose two seem fishy, right,ā and Young-jae blurts out, āYes. I mean, no. She has a boyfriend.ā Young-joo catches up to Jung-in after work to ask if sheās on her way to end things for good with Ki-seok. When Jung-in informs her that Ki-seok cancelled, Young-joo warns, āDonāt think youāre out of the woods yet.ā Over drinks, Hyun-soo asks Ki-seok why he cancelled his plans with his girlfriend. Ki-seok stares at Ji-ho before bringing up the other night. Ji-ho readily admits, āYes, I was at the apartment. I knew you came by, but I couldnāt come outā¦ā Ki-seok sighs in relief when Ji-ho adds that he was there with Jae-in and Young-jae. Hyun-soo looks confused, so Ki-seok explains that his friends were invited to his girlfriendās house by her sister. Hyun-soo comes to his friendsā defense but Ki-seok now finds the entire situation funny. Ki-seok admits that when he saw the mensā shoes, āI got pissed because it seemed like she had someone else.ā Amused by his misunderstanding, Ki-seok tells Ji-ho, āIf I had known it was you, I wouldāve gone in and buried the hatchet with Jung-in.ā Ki-seok looks puzzled when Ji-ho admits, āI shouldāve told you the truth.ā Young-jae gets a call from Hyun-soo and has to explain, āWe didnāt plan on going there and nothing happened.ā Young-jae tells Jae-in that Ki-seok found out that he and Ji-ho were at the apartment and she mutters, āThat was fast.ā Jung-in sees the pair on her way to her building and Jae-in informs her that Ki-seok and Ji-ho are together. When Jung-in enters her apartment, she pulls out her phone, unsure what to do. Jae-in walks in to confront her sister about Ji-ho, āYouāre the woman he likes, right?ā Jung-inās silence says everything and Jae-in has to ask, āDo you like him too?ā When Jung-in confesses that she does, Jae-in summarizes, āSo the two men pining over you are currently together.ā When Jung-in is about to call Ji-ho, Jae-in orders her to call Ki-seok instead to find out what he knows. Ki-seok lays it on a bit thick for the benefit of Ji-ho when Jung-in calls, āWhen have you ever asked me to rush over?ā Ki-seok is convinced that Jung-in probably wants to make up so Hyun-soo urges him to hurry. Ji-ho protests, āCanāt you stayā¦Canāt your girlfriend come here instead?ā Hyun-soo pronounces Ji-ho drunk and once Ki-seok is gone, he asks, āWhatās going on,ā but a miserable Ji-ho can only shake his head and whisper that itās nothing. While Jung-in waits for Ki-seok to arrive, Ji-ho tries to cheer himself up with a call to Eun-woo. Over wine, Jae-in explains to Ki-seok, āIt was my doing, so no more misunderstandings.ā Ki-seok assures Jae-in that he doubted Jung-in for no reason because Ji-ho poses no threat. Jae-in doesnāt understand so Ki-seok explains that Ji-ho is a single father. Ki-seok laughs that Ji-ho tried to stop him from coming over. Jung-in decides that he must have been drunk and Ki-seok agrees, otherwise Ji-hoās comment would be strange. Jae-in asks Ki-seok to forget about what happened but he reminds her that itās Ji-ho theyāre talking about. Jae-in takes exception to Ki-seokās attitude, āYou canāt judge someone just because heās a single father. Itās out of line to say that heās not even worth considering.ā Ki-seok grumbles that he feels like the bad guy, which could have been avoided if Jung-in had reconciled with him sooner. Ki-seok grabs Jung-inās hand to announce, āWeāre thinking about getting married. Can I count on your help?ā Jae-in squelches her surprise with a smile and says nothing. Jung-in walks Ki-seok to the street and when he asks, āWhat will become of us,ā she tells him, āItās late.ā Ki-seok wonders if sheās talking about them and pulls Jung-in into a hug that she doesnāt return. Ki-seok tries to convince Jung-in, āLetās be more in love. Iāll do better.ā Back in her apartment, Jung-in asks Jae-in if sheās disappointed. Jae-in admits that sheās disappointed with Ki-seok and feels badly about Ji-ho. Jae-in asks if Jung-in has made up her mind and when she shakes her head, Jae-in promises, āJust know that I have your back no matter what.ā Jung-in tears up when Jae-in gives her a sisterly hug. In the morning, Ye-seul warns her boss not to go into the pharmacy because Ji-ho is in the middle of a serious phone call with a woman. In the back room, Ji-ho tells Jung-in that he knows that Jung-inās actions were meant to protect him. When Jung-in apologizes, āIām sorry for liking you,ā Ji-ho exclaims, āWhat a pleasant morning.ā When Chairman Kwon drops off an herbal tonic, Ki-seok invites his father for a cup of coffee. In Ki-seokās office, Chairman Kwon warns his son to cut ties with people who cling to him because he works at a bank, āYou must be objectiveā¦Blindly believing in them will drive you off a cliff.ā Chairman Kwon informs Ki-seok that when Principal Lee retires, heāll work for the foundation. Ki-seok is shocked when his father asks him to bring Jung-in home for a visit. Chairman Kwon laughs and asks if they broke up but Ki-seok answers that heās marrying Jung-in. After another intense basketball game, Ji-ho announces that heās headed home. Ki-seok urges him to join the team for dinner and thereās an uncomfortable pause until Ji-ho agrees. Hyun-soo offers Ji-ho a ride but he decides to go with Ki-seok. During the drive, Ki-seok asks Ji-ho why the identity of the woman that heās seeing is a secret from Hyun-soo. Ki-seok envies the excitement of a new relationship and Ji-ho asks, āNot for you anymore?ā Ki-seok admits, āThe honeymoon phase is over in about a month anyway. Once that ends, you just keep dating each other unless something happens.ā When Ki-seok confirms that heās been with his girlfriend for a long time, Ji-ho points out, āBut then you could fall out of love.ā Ki-seok thinks that Ji-ho is talking about cheating, something that he would never do, but he would break up with his girlfriend if she ever cheated. When Ji-ho asks if Ki-seok could let her go, Ki-seok confesses, āI wouldnāt let go so easilyā¦ā Ji-ho ignores a phone call but Ki-seok suspects that itās the mystery woman and urges him answer. Itās Jung-in, whoās checking to see if Ji-ho is at the pharmacy because she has something to say. Ji-ho tells her that he just finished his basketball game and Jung-in guesses that heās with Ki-seok. When Jung-in offers to hang up, Ji-ho pleads, āDonāt hang up.ā COMMENTS Itās impossible to ignore how differently Jung-in behaves whenever Ki-seok is around. Sheās tense, unhappy and overall miserable with Ki-seok but he doesnāt see it. Ki-seok seems to think that if he protests long enough, he can get Jung-in to agree to get married. What Ki-seok canāt see is how Jung-in behaves when heās not around, sheās like a different person. Back in Episode 4, Jung-in and Ki-seok sat on her couch when she asked him for a break. They sat as far apart as possible and Jung-in was stiff and uncomfortable. In contrast, Jung-in sits on that same couch with Ji-ho while Jae-in and Young-jae are out to pick up drinks. Even though they are seated just as far apart as Jung-in and Ki-seok were, Jung-in prepared some tea and she is relaxed and willing to make eye contact with Ji-ho. Itās Ji-ho who canāt relax yet he still manages to joke with Jung-in and gets her to smile. Itās the same thing with the hugs. Ki-seok pulls Jung-in into a tight hug after meeting with her and Jae-in, even though Jung-in does nothing to encourage him. Jung-in sighs and rolls her eyes as Ki-seok promises to do better and itās painful to watch him cling to her. When Jung-in returns to her apartment, Jae-in comforts her with another hug and Jung-in hugs her sister back and smiles amid her tears. Itās not that Jung-in is a cold woman, itās that she no longer has romantic feelings for Ki-seok. Jung-in hasnāt been willing to admit that to Ki-seok, instead determined to break up with him without citing a specific reason. Even though she now has feelings for Ji-ho, thatās not the only reason that Jung-in wants to be free. Itās worrisome to know Ki-seokās perspective about relationships as explained to Ji-ho on that drive to the post-game dinner. Relationships get comfortable and continue if thereās no good reason to end them. Thatās an awfully low standard and explains why Jung-in is so underwhelmed by Ki-seokās suggestion of marriage. It sounds as if Ki-seok has no idea how to love Jung-in properly, which is the reason that Jae-in never warmed up to Shi-hoon. Well, there are may reasons for that but no one knows them, yet. I get the feeling that Ki-seok never treasured Jung-in, he just continued to see her because there wasnāt a good reason not to. Ji-ho is on a different plane. Ji-ho is willing to suffer an unwanted separation and battles his temptations for Jung-inās sake. Ji-ho does treasure Jung-in and is willing to let her go unlike Ki-seok, who wonāt even consider breaking up with Jung-in. Unfortunately, Jung-inās parents think more like Ki-seok and now that Chairman Kwon has offered Principal Lee a post-retirement position, theyāre even more anxious to see their daughter married to his son. As gruff and unpleasant as Chairman Kwon can be, if you strip away how he speaks, what he has to say makes lots of sense. Chairman Kwon is actually quite wise and preaches caution, with good reason. Marriage is a big decision and a bad choice leads to a difficult life. Ki-seok should be cautious at work because personal feelings interfere with sound decisions. Iām finding myself warming up to the man even though his delivery could use some work. One parallel that I find adorable is the father and son connection with Jung-in. These two fell for Jung-in at first sight and canāt stop thinking about her. Eun-woo canāt wait to see her again and when he heard that Ji-ho was at a friendās house, he instinctively knew he was talking about Jung-in. That nighttime conversation between Eun-woo and Jung-in moved Ji-ho to tears because it must have been so rewarding to know that the two people in his heart have a bond of their own. Unfortunately, Ki-seok isnāt about to step aside so that Jung-in can find happiness with someone else, especially not a man like Ji-ho, whoās a single father. Ki-seokās refusal to acknowledge that Ji-ho is a serious romantic rival shows just how clueless he truly is. The next day, Ki-seok is surprised to find Chairman Kwonās driver waiting to deliver an envelope. When Ki-seok sees the surveillance photos, he realizes that his father knows the truth. Later that morning, Chairman Kwon is surprised when his maid reports that there havenāt been any calls while Ki-seok sits at home, trying to decide what to do. During a brief stop at Ji-hoās place, Hyun-soo asks what Jung-in had to say about her fatherās meeting with Ki-seok. After he leaves, Ji-ho calls Jung-in, whoās still in bed. She jokes that sheās causing trouble and sits up in alarm when Ji-ho teases, āYou already did that yesterday.ā When asked what happened, Jung-in admits that she doesnāt want to talk about it and Ji-ho is understanding, as usual. Jung-in grumbles that compared to Ji-ho, sheās the anxious and impatient one. Worried that he hasnāt provided her with enough certainty, Ji-ho asks, āWould you like to meet my parents?ā Jung-inās eyes widen in shock and when Ji-ho teases that heād like to see the look on her face, Jung-in deadpans, āIām unfazed.ā Jung-in is even more anxious but Ji-ho assures her that his parents are nice people. Jung-in envies him but Ji-ho is quick to explain that when he looks at her, he can tell that Jung-inās parents are nice too. Jung-in heard about the advice that Jae-in gave Ji-ho and he admits, āIāve already been bracing myself. Besides, Iām too happy right now to rush into anything in a hurry.ā Ji-ho canāt help but smile when Jung-in disagrees, āNot me. I want you badly.ā Shi-hoon pays his in-laws a surprise visit and shocks them when he kneels down and admits that itās his fault that Seo-in wants a divorce. Before his mother-in-law can interrupt, Shi-hoon tells Principal Lee that he was drunk when he hit Seo-in during an argument. Shi-hoon weeps and begs his father-in-law to intervene, āI canāt live without Seo-in.ā Jung-inās mother canāt believe it when her husband bellows, āA divorce is just absurd!ā Young-joo is waiting outside when Jung-in arrives to spend time with her friend before her date with Ji-ho. As theyāre about to leave for lunch, Eun-woo runs up excitedly, āMs. Lee!ā Ji-hoās mother asks how Jung-in knows Eun-woo and guesses that sheās the teacher from the library. Before Mom gets the wrong idea, Young-joo explains, āIām her friend and I coincidentally happen to live on the second floor.ā Eun-woo pulls his grandmother inside and when he sees Ji-ho, asks, āWhy isnāt Ms. Lee coming?ā Ji-hoās mother explains that they ran into Jung-in and Ji-ho canāt wait to hear her opinion. When his mother describes Jung-in as smart, meticulous and pretty, Ji-ho canāt keep from smiling. At lunch, Young-joo announces that itās time for her to move so that sheās no longer involved in Jung-inās personal issues. Jung-in credits Young-joo for leading her to Ji-ho and hopes that sheāll have to reward her friend one day. While Jung-in worries about Ji-hoās mother, Young-joo brings up Eun-woo, āAre you sure you can be a mother?ā When Jung-in explains that she has time before she has to worry about that, Young-joo asks if sheās keeping her options open. Jung-in brings up the topic of changing feelings and Young-joo tells her that while feelings can shift, human nature stays the same. Ki-seok calls Jung-in at that very moment and Young-joo shakes her head, āSee? People never change.ā Ki-seok wants to talk to Jung-in and promises to wait at her place until she comes home. Seo-inās parents and Shi-hoon are now at Seo-inās apartment, where Principal Lee lectures his daughter and son-in-law. When Principal Lee asks Seo-in to forgive Shi-hoon, she explains that she made her decision after much thought. Seo-in realizes that her father is convinced that Shi-hoon only abused her once when Principal Lee exclaims, āā¦it was a mistake. He wouldnāt have done it on purpose.ā Seo-in announces that sheās proceeding with the divorce but Principal Lee argues that once her marriage is back on track, Seo-in can think about having a baby. Everyone is shocked when Seo-in blurts out that sheās already pregnant. The baby gives Principal Lee even more ammunition against Seo-in, who he now labels as ā..immature and reckless.ā Seo-in shouts, āYour daughter was assaultedā¦How much more must I endure for you to understand me?ā After her mother guides a distraught Seo-in to the bedroom, Shi-hoon grins over the turn of events. Ugh. Alone with Seo-in, Mom apologizes for her husband, āHow could I have lived with a man like that all these years?ā Mom leaves when Seo-in agrees to speak with Shi-hoon privately. He kneels down and makes his plea, āIām sorryā¦Iāll devote my life to you and our babyā¦So please forgive me this once.ā When Seo-in refuses, Shi-hoon coldly reminds her that he wonāt be the only one ruined by a divorce. Seo-in readily admits, āRevealing that youāre a son-of-a-bitch will also let people know that Iām a pathetic woman who only married for money.ā Shi-hoon promises that heāll agree to a divorce if he ever hurts Seo-in again. Seo-inās answer is that she wonāt press assault charges if Shi-hoon gives up his parental rights. Shi-hoon stands up and glares at Seo-in, āThen I choose to be an ex-con.ā After Ji-ho puts Eun-woo down for a nap, he gets a text from Jung-in and tells his mother that heāll be back. During their walk, Ji-ho encourages Jung-in to meet Ki-seok to listen to what he has to say. When Jung-in calls him incredibly patient, Ji-ho explains, āI trust you. Thatās all.ā EPISODE 24 Ki-seok takes Jung-in to the school garden where they first met. After admitting that he waited too long, Ki-seok places a box in Jung-inās hand, āLetās get married. What you think doesnāt matter. Iām choosing this for your sake.ā When Jung-in tries to return it, Ki-seok puts his hands in his pockets and backs away. While Ji-ho sighs after a checking his phone, Ki-seok hugs an emotionless Jung-in. After Ji-ho drives his mother and Eun-woo back to his parentsā place, Ji-hoās mother whispers to her husband that she saw the girl that Ji-ho likes, and theyāre already holding hands. Ji-hoās dad mentions that sheās pretty and then covers his mistake by insisting that all young women are pretty. When Seo-inās parents get home, her mother tells Principal Lee how much he disappointed her and calls him despicable. Sheās in tears because she knows that her husband is against the divorce because he wantās to hide Seo-inās abuse. Seo-inās mother weeps, āDivorce is nothing to be ashamed of. You should be ashamed that youāre a shallow-minded father whoās more concerned with what other people think.ā Sheās appalled by Principal Leeās reaction, āLetās hurry Jung-inās weddingā¦No family would want a daughter-in-law with a divorced sister.ā Jae-in stares at the engagement ring and scolds Jung-in for falling for such an old trick. When Jae-in asks if her sister still has feelings for Ki-seok, Jung-in confesses, āI was surprised to realize that I already have no feelings left at all for him.ā The next day at work, Jung-in catches Ha-rin and Young-joo reading an online announcement about Seo-inās pregnancy. Theyāre surprised when Jung-in runs into the conference room to make a call. Ji-ho hears about Seo-inās pregnancy from Pharmacist Wang. Ji-ho canāt help but smile when Pharmacist Wang assumes that Jung-inās family will be overjoyed when Jung-in marries in addition to the new baby. Ji-hoās smile evaporates when Hyun-soo informs him that Ki-seok proposed. When Ye-seul walks into the back room later, she finds Ji-ho deep in thought and asks if heās all right. At the bank, Ki-seok hands a corrected report back to Hyun-soo and wants to know, āHey, did you pass on the news to Ji-ho?ā At the television station, Seo-in has to play the happy expectant mother when sheās showered with congratulations. Shi-hoonās receptionists are confused by the announcement after seeing how upset Seo-inās mother was when she visited. Shi-hoon walks in while on the phone, basking in the attention that the announcement has generated. Ki-seok is at the bank when Ji-ho calls to ask for a meeting. Ki-seok tries to put him off but finally agrees to see Ji-ho that night. When Jae-in walks into Seo-inās place and sees a large suitcase, she asks her mother if Shi-hoon is moving back in. Mom announces that it belongs to her and sighs, āGosh, Iām so sick of this.ā Jae-in wants her mother to promise that she wonāt talk Seo-in out of divorcing Shi-hoon. Mom informs Jae-in that she plans to get a divorce too and Jae-in gets hit when she asks, āIf you and Dad get a divorce, whom should I choose?ā After they discuss school business, Principal Lee mentions his meeting with Ki-seok to Chairman Kwon. Chairman Kwon is agains pressuring their kids to get married since children usually go against their parentsā wishes. Chairman Kwon heard that Principal Lee has a grandchild on the way and advises, āJust enjoy that for now.ā Principal Lee is afraid that Ki-seok and Jung-in will drag things out without their fathersā help. Chairman Kwon reasons, āThen maybe theyāre not meant to be,ā and walks off with his usual scowl, but once heās out of sight, his face breaks into a smile. Jung-in has to work late and texts Ji-ho just as Ki-seok arrives for their meeting. When she gets a text itās from Jae-in, who reports that Ji-ho knows about the proposal. Jung-in runs out of the library and calls Jae-in, who hands her phone to Young-jae. Young-jae confirms that Ji-ho set up a meeting with Ki-seok but he has no idea where they went. Young-jae makes sure to tell Jung-in that Ji-ho will never let her down and explains, āI guess I wanted to brag about my buddy.ā A smug Ki-seok starts off the meeting, āHyun-soo, that blabbermouth, probably told you what happened. What more do you want to know?ā Ji-ho has to calm himself before asking how long Ki-seok plans to make things hard for Jung-in. After Ki-seok calls Ji-ho an āobnoxious prickā, Ji-ho announces his plan to tell everyone about his relationship with Jung-in, starting with their parents. Ki-seok is certain that Jung-inās family wonāt welcome him but Ji-ho argues that Jung-in has already accepted him, which is what matters. After Ki-seok taunts Ji-ho about the humiliation that awaits him, Ji-ho leans back in his chair and announces that heās giving upā¦on Ki-seok. Ji-ho wonāt be respectful or considerate of Ki-seok anymore. Jung-in leans out of Young-jooās window while waiting for Ji-ho, worried that he and Ki-seok may actually fight this time. Young-joo argues that most people will sympathize with Ki-seok but as soon as Ji-ho gets home, Jung-in runs upstairs. Jung-in rings Ji-hoās doorbell just as heās about to take a shower. Jung-in lets herself in and when Ji-ho walks out of the bathroom, she pulls him into a back hug. She suggests talking like that if heās mad but Ji-ho points out that Jung-in isnāt the only one who was hiding something. Ji-ho offers to make some coffee but Jung-in wants a beer. Ji-ho canāt join her because he has to drive her home but Jung-in announces, āIām going to sleep here.ā Jung-in wonders, āCanāt I do that,ā and when Ji-ho doesnāt answer, she puts his mind at ease and admits that sheās staying with Young-joo. When Ji-ho is ready to hear her apology, Jung-in explains that she only accepted Ki-seokās ring because her guilt over the failed relationship kept her from throwing it back at him. Ji-ho accepts her explanation and Jung-in has to confess that sheās not as good as Ji-ho. Tears well in Jung-inās eyes when she promises, āFrom now on, Iām going to try to become like you.ā Ji-ho wipes away Jung-inās tears, āYouāre still such a fool.ā Ji-ho breaks the tension when he leans across the table to kiss Jung-in and laughs when he fails to reach her. Jae-in is out with Young-jae when Jung-in texts that sheās staying the night with Young-joo. Jae-in doesnāt believe her and pressures Young-jae for Ji-hoās address so that she can catch Jung-in and Ji-ho together and blackmail her sister for an allowance. Young-jae calls Jae-in a bully and refuses to tell her where to find Ji-ho. Back at Ji-hoās place, there are empty beer cans and half eaten snacks in the dark kitchen. After Ji-ho turns off the lamp in the bedroom, he and Jung-in kiss in bed until the photo of Eun-woo makes her self-conscious. Ji-ho turns the photo around and his neatly hung laundry blows in the breeze as the night stretches on. COMMENTS Well, just as I expected, Jung-in was the one to take her relationship with Ji-ho to the next stage, which makes perfect sense. While Ki-seok and their fathers continue to marginalize her, Ji-ho waited for Jung-in to decide what it is that she wants without any pressure. Chairman Kwonās warning that pushing their kids into marriage could backfire turned out to be true because Ki-seok and Jung-inās father have forced Jung-in and Ji-ho to fight for their right to be together. And now theyāre really together. As far as Iām concerned, the pivotal scene wasnāt in Ji-hoās very dark bedroom, it was in the kitchen, when Jung-in confessed that Ji-ho has inspired her to become a better person. Jung-in was pained by her immaturity to the point of tears and promised to try to be more like Ji-ho. Thatās what makes Jung-inās relationship with Ji-ho so special, she wants to be a better person whoās worthy of his love. Isnāt that what true love should accomplish? Helping those involved to grow into better versions of themselves? I think that Jung-inās relationship with Ji-ho has taught her what he already understands about love. Ji-ho is unselfish, patient, kind and loyal, just as his friend Young-jae described. It makes Ji-ho a great friend, father and boyfriend/future husband and Jung-in not only recognizes that, she appreciates it. However, Ji-ho has no more patience for Ki-seok, who has targeted Jung-in relentlessly in order to get his revenge on Ji-ho. That stare that Ji-ho leveled at Ki-seok took me by surprise and Iām more that ready to see Ji-ho fight back. Ki-seok is really playing dirty after Chairman Kwon sent him those photos but it accomplished what he wanted, Ki-seok finally proposed, sort of. I think it was pretty obvious how impressed Chairman Kwon was to see Jung-in in his house and it only confirmed how much he wants her as a daughter-in-law, probably even more than Principal Lee wants Ki-seok as a son-in-law. Speaking of Principal Lee, what a poor excuse he is for a husband and father. It confuses me how the Lee women, with the exception of Jae-in, have ended up with such disrespectful men. These are strong women who have ended up with men who treat them like property. But I think the tide is about to turn, led by a rebellious Jung-in whoās being forced to fight for her right to love Ji-ho. Shi-hoon is a thug who thinks that he just hit the jackpot thanks to the news about the baby. And Principal Lee again demonstrated his disturbing ability to ignore the truth in order to get what he wants, but this time it may have cost him his marriage. I couldnāt be happier because Iām pretty sure that man canāt even boil water by himself. What I canāt understand is why Seo-in hasnāt disclosed Shi-hoonās staggering debts to her father. That alone should get Principal Lee to agree to a divorce because Shi-hoonās financial ruin will certainly hurt the Lee familyās reputation almost as badly as Seo-inās abuse. Shi-hoon is a ticking time bomb and thereās no way that Principal Lee will escape unscathed, nor should he.
